An image from the series Archiving the Universe is hung somewhere in the private space of the person organizing the exhibition. A a detailed set of instructions for a meditation session is passed on in addition. These instructions are to be carried out every morning after waking up for the entire duration of the exhibition. It is an active reflection on the fact that all matter is interconnected, that we exist in a fluid, transient state—one that was, that is, and that will come into being. It is a subtle work that operates on a subconscious level.
It is both a performative piece with a touch of institutional critique, taking shape as a moment of care. At the same time, it is a reflection on the individual works shown in the exhibition, as well as an approach on a very direct human level: the person overseeing the exhibition spaces enters the room differently, opens the doors in a different way, and welcomes visitors with a different attitude. All of these actions change the approach to how the exhibition is presented and perceived.
